JDM Accord CE1 US Wagon in NZ
New member.
Owned a 1996 Accord US Wagon CE1 RHD (made in US for JDM market) for ten years with no repairs, but recently daughter took it over and wanted it pretty, so I'm back in the garage with a wrench. Low mileage (50,000 when I bought it, and 60,000 when daughter first borrowed it) and remarkably reliable.
So to "pretty it" I found a new door, fender and tailgate at pick-a-part for NZ$89 (US$60) each (fender was cheaper). Sanded for a weekend. The paint had eczema, the sun down here destroys the clearcoat, and it had dents from a drunk who kicked a door in and the usual city abuse. Found a paint store that could not sell a gallon of 2-pack paint because of the colour (Kelly Green) that he sold me for NZ$50 (US$33) Found a paint shop to spray it (on St. Patricks Day - how appropriate) for NZ$400 ($267). So it is looking a lot better, albeit a pretty odd colour for a Honda (it's not metallic, more like a 1950's British racing green). It used to be metallic blue.
Now sorting the details and will post questions in the appropriate forum.
Cheers
