D15b 3 stage vtec

Howdy guys, I’m somewhat new to the world of Hondas but I like what I see, I’ve got this 97 civic DX with a jdm d15b 3 stage vtec swap. Vtec only works when it wants too which is so random and there’s only one solenoid hooked up out of the 2 so idk wtf is going on its how I hit the he car. It’s got a p2p ecu and from what I understand I think I think m that is an ex ecu. Any help at all would be just appreciated since I’m basically a noob, but I do know my way around the hood of a car. Thank you

You need to acquire the proper JDM ECU for a 3-Stage VTEC D15B... the P2P cannot operate it.

Nope, just get the correct engine and forget the d15b.

My friend and I set this up in a 97 lx 15 years ago. He used a p2p w/ a vtec controller for the 12v.

Or just get a p2j ecu.

The P2P ECU doesn't have the proper fueling and ignition tables for the D15B, so the use of a VTEC controller to activate one of the two solenoids was make-shift at best. The D15B ECU is the answer if you aren't willing to do as Chrisfrom1986 suggests...

Im just saying with the expensive of things these days its just easier to drop in the right engine, especially for someone new.
