Y1/J1/S1 gears in YS1 tranny?
I was wondering if the gears from a Y1/S1/J1 (from JDM B16A1 swaps) tranny will fit in a YS1 tranny (92-93 Teg LS). I realize it would be easier to just swap the trannies, but I just got a new clutch and the spline size is different. Also I'm going turbo in the future and I'd like to be able to compare gear sets.
Thanks

Y1/S1/J1 gears are good for NA but for turbo you may want to keep the LS trans because the gears are longer and you will be able to utilize the boost more effectively.

this is not happening. the 92-93 YS1 trannies use larger main shafts than the B16 cable trannies so none of the gears will work between each other. i have actually compared the 93 GSR gears next to the JDM S1 gears and besides the fact that the inner diameters are different sizes, they use completely different sized synchros.
my advice to you would be to go get yourself a 92-93 GSR YS1 tranny and sell your new clutch.

The clutch will work (it is for a 92-93)...but those GSR trannies are $$$$
