Default would a chipped p28 work with a h22a in a civic hb???

I bought a h22a off of a guy near by and he gave me a JUN chipped p28 with the motor like it was supposed to be with it but VTEC wont kick in till like 6500-6700 rpm. Is this a usable ecu with an h22a?

yes.... but I suggest you run on a H22 program for that P28 or else bad things can happen.

I run a P28 without any issues. Buy a piggyback (Apex VAFC) and go get a tune.

The biggest thing you need a H22a program chip is timing. H-series have bigger bore than B-series. There fore, It takes more time for a flame to travel across a larger bore, thus, more timing is needed. Most chipped ECU run overly rich either way, but it is the wrong chip for your needs.

Do not run that chip. It will most likely ruin a good motor. If you are going to get a chip, at least get one made for the H22 or just get a stock P13.

Not to mention the secondary butterflies in the stock H22 intake manifold which won't be able to function with a P28.

since we're on the subject of ecus ive got a quick question. Im runnin a chipped p28 on mine (chrome program with h22a maps...yadda yadda yadda). I also have my stock p13 just chillin here in my office. Now i know i can get my p13 chipped, but is it also possible to get EGR removed (or bypassed) when it gets chipped?

Does the p72 look for egr? And would the JDM h22a have the second butterflys in the mani?

GSR doesnt have an EGR so a P72 wont look for it. Disconnect the EGR and block it off. Problem solved

All "H22" motors have the butterflys. They can be bypassed to work through vacuum. Essentially, hook up the vac port from the top of the butterfly valve directly to the intake manifold and remove all the rest of the parts. This basicly will use full throttle vacuum to activate the valve to open the butterflies
