Wiring b16 into 96 dx ... easiest way??
Ok, well just like the title says, whats the easiest way to wire a b16 into a 96 dx?
1. EX harness (should be plug and play, right?, nothing to change or re-pin I dont think...)
or
2. Convert DX harness - I know you have to add the vtec wires, and I believe you also have to repin some of the plugs....anyone sure which ones?
Its going to be a obd2 b16, so I dont think Ill have any problmes there...just trying to figure out the easiest way...
Thanks

The 2nd O2 is wired into the cabin harness on the EX. The EX engine harness will plug-n-plug but you'll still need to run wires for the secondary O2.

I think its the same on the DX...can anyone confirm this??
If so, then it sounds like the EX harness would be the easiest since it would be a direct plug and play application with no modifying or repinning necessary...

Also, whats everyones take on this method....
99/00 Si harness used on a 96 dx.
Using helms manual, re-pin plug C131 (that connects main wire harness to engine harness) so they match. As far as I can see, all the same wires are used, just need to be re-pinned. Anyone done it that way before?
Am I missing something with that method??

just use the EX harness and use a OBD 1 ecu so that you dont have to wire up the secondary O2 sensor

It would be a major PITA, just get a 96-98 EX harness and have fun with it. Also check out the link in my sig for EK swaps.
Stay away from the 99-00 Si harness.

I've done something similar. Except I used an obd2B harness and put obd2A ecu connectors on and plugged in an obd2a ecu. It was a pain in the ***. Had to move every wire, but one.
But if you only had to repin one connector, it wouldnt be that bad. As long as you know what your doing.
Of course it would be a HELL of alot eaiser to just add a couple wires to your stock dx harness.

If you can get a 96-98 manual EX harness for cheap, that would be the best method. You will still have to add the wiring for the secondary O2 sensor since the EX uses a separate plug/harness for it.

You will have to rewire the IACV, add the VTEC solenoid, VTEC pressure switch and knock sensor wiring. This is the method I always use since you've already got the harness and the extra wiring/plugs that need added can be salvaged from the harness you get with the motor in most cases. Just all depends on the amount of wiring you want to do and what you have to work with.
BTW, don't bother trying to use the 99-00 Si harness or any harness for that matter other than a 96-98 Civic harness.
