Default Will a JDM ITR FD fit in a Cable YS1 Tranny?

Bought one, but want to know if I can use it before I start taking the tranny apart.

It's been done in Japan with some modification. I think a few people here have done this, but not sure of their outcome. But prepare yourself for some work ahead of you.

For one a 4.7fd is made exclusively for a hydro b-series mission, mainly S80 & S4C missions.

The YS1 tranny internals are the same internals you'd find in a hydro 92-95 B16A Y21 mission JDM mostly but also found in the US on the DOHC VTEC Delsol model. The problem is that the ring gear & diff diameter is small in the YS1 & Y21 missions, and are not compatible with the 4.7 ring gear. So, you'd need to get a bigger diff or LSD from an S80 or S4C mission; since the 4.7fd ring gear is bigger in diameter, you'll have to slightly modify the YS1's internal casing to accept the bigger ring gear or else contact between the 4.7 ring gear and inner casing will make contact.

I believe you need to use the 4.7fd pinion gear (shaft) as well, and I'm not sure if that drops right in or needs modifying. My memory of this whole final drive attempt in the YS1 tranny is a bit foggy right now......but its not a super easy task and I don't recall anyone being successful at it here in the states, although I heard stories a few years ago of Japanese tuners completing this task..

I know of only one person whose friend did the gear change successfully. His sn on here and G2IC is VTEC DA9. According to him, his friend has done several of these kind of gear swaps.

you should get an Integra tranny housing not Y1 or S1. You must use a Type R LSD to matched your 4.785FD. ( this is for cable tranny only ). If you change to other Hydro tranny, you only just change your LSD to type r only.
