Will a GSR crank work in an LS block?
I have an Ls/vtec and want to be able to rev a little higher. In a few weeks I am planning on building the block with higher compression pistons, eagle rods, and either balance my crank, or, if the gsr crank will work, do that.I have a B18b block, gsr head, Mugen style P28 ecu.

Re: Will a GSR crank work in an LS block? (sgT)
you might want to get the girdel and the oil jets under the rods. they have a big thing to do with the high reving. might want to get some cams too. ls cams wont make power past 7,000. it will be a waste of gas if you try to rev that high. i say keep the ls crank and pop on a vtec head. gs-r for high compression. wont need to rev as high and will smoke any gs-r or b16 (stock)

Re: Will a GSR crank work in an LS block? (SPOCK)
I have a gsr (vtec) head. Where would I get a new oil jets and a girdle. or would I just use used gsr ones? Thats what I figured about the rods.

I thought one block was a tad taller than the other? So wouldn't you maybe need to get a set of custom rods? Could you still safely rev to 8500 or so with the gsr crank and no girdle?

Re: Will a GSR crank work in an LS block? (lube)
No personal experience here, but some people have claimed that they've been revving their ls/vtecs to 8k for years without "all" the recommended bulletproofing. The first mod on the list, tho, is arp rod bolts. The next is balancing everything and perhaps shotpeening the rods. Most setups don't claim to have the expensive girdle and accessories mod or the mysterious oil squirters (apparently for cooling...?).
I'd be too scared to rev an ls/v of mine to 8.5 or even 8. I had imagined perhaps a max of 7.5k and very rarely at that. From the almost stock dyno charts i've been able to find (they're usually all modded up), they don't seem to make really any power past 7.5k anyways.

R/S ratio problems?? you guys are STILL hung up on R/S ratio??
R/S ratio is a function of rod length and stroke. so since you are so concerned
about it, the r/s ratio is actually BETTER than the LS.
Anyway, GSR crank will work in an ls block but you need gsr rods.
I would recommend the z10 main girdle if you plan to rev the motor
past 8k. With the girdle, you will need the gsr windage tray, oil pickup,
and oil pan.
Dont worry about the oil jets.
