Will a B18C1 swapped EK hatch pass smog in CA LEGALLY?
Yeah guys I'm about to buy a EK Hatch with a USDM GSR B18C1 swap bone stock except for only an AEM C.A.I. done to the engine and i'm just wondering if it'll pass smog LEGALLY in Southern California without any problems? Yeah i'm just wondering that because It's going to be daily driven and I don't want to have the cops on my ***...I'd really appreciate it guys...thanks

You'd better check with California to see if they have a law that relates to putting a motor in a car when the motor and car are different years. That's the only catch I can think of. For years Virginia had a weird law that made you swap motors that weren't always the best choice.
Other than that remote possibility, you would be able to get an emissions test with a swap that had, for example, a '99 EK with an '00 GS-R motor using the OEM GS-R computer.
Because of the AEM intake and exhaust modifications you might have made, you might have to play with the spark advance to get it to pass, but it is possible and likely.

trasnmission doesn't matter.
All you have to do is to make sure that the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly, you are using a stock ECU that was made for the motor *in your case a p72* and if the motor is USDM, make sure it isn't stolen and the vin is still on the block.
