Yeah, the thing is that these damn H-series trannies don't like speed shifting(let alone high rpm shifting)....It's a better Idea since I've had a lot of experince with B-series trannies and they are stout as f*ck

Wait. So you're going to custom make a B series tranny to fit on an H22? How the heck...

to do this, i see it being done in 2 ways... creating a adapter plate from the block to the tranny, but it cant be thick ot the outdrive shaft wont go into the clutch.. other way is to have to cast a new bell housing with the h-series mounting pattern...

So what about the gearing? Would it work with the H22's powerband?

Call up DR Charles in ARea 51 in Irvine, CA.
he was planning on designing one 2 years ago. theres some tranny combos that have been done recently to such as D series trans on a (secret Block-not another D thats for sure) .
it can be done..

it's not as hard as people think it is...How do you think people are using powerglides and G-force with different motors?
lol, I love engineering
I might just call ans talk to charles...See what he's done so far.
The thing is, who will be willing to purchase a kit when it's done? That's what the deal is here. To see if it's worth it to produce a kit.

H22 gsr LS b16/ITR
3.307 3.230 3.230 3.230
1.950 1.900 1.900 2.105
1.360 1.360 1.269 1.458
1.071 1.034 .966 1.107
.871 .787 .714 .848
4.266 4.400 4.266 4.400
as you can see, the H22 gearing is similar to the gsr tranny...but with a different final drive. The 4.400 final drive will help with acceleration very nicely
here's what I get from the 94-01 gsr tranny
Gear ShiftRPM Speed @ 7700 RPM
1st N/A 39.5
2nd 4529 67.1
3rd 5512 93.8
4th 5854 123.4
5th 5861 162.1
RPM in top gear at 70mph: 3326
here's an h22 tranny
Gear ShiftRPM Speed @ 7700 RPM
1st N/A 39.8
2nd 4540 67.5
3rd 5370 96.7
4th 6064 122.8
5th 6262 151.0
RPM in top gear at 70mph: 3569
these calculations are assuming that the redline is at 7700rpm and teh tire size is 24.5"(which is what most people will use at the tracks on a higher torque car)....
