Who makes exhaust for cars with swaps?
Ok I just finished my h22 swap into my 99 ek. Thing is the header is cut before the flange and I don't want to bog the hp down by attaching it to my stock pea shooter. I want a mandrel bent exhaust to match the body but still have a large enough diameter. I know that skunk makes a catback for cars with swaps but I hear that it has a very high raspy sound. Does anyone else make a good cat for my car?

Was it mandrel bent?

If im not mistaken mandrel is just the way that they bend the pipe to ensure max air flow... something in the machine that does it... correct me if im wrong

The pipe was bended my the muffler guy who did a really good job even though he was high off his ***. I was almost scared to let the guy touch my car. I went to 3 shops in the Dallas area and no one would touch my car unless it had a cat, which i didn't want. So I went to Top Mufflers and the pot head told me to ramp it up. He did a good job on the bends, they weren't cruch bends, but were actually very smooth. This should hold me until I can afford something better.

Your best bet when you want to install a good exhaust for little money is to have a good shop order the needed mandrel bends and custom fab a mandrel exhaust. Also provide them with a high quality muffler. I am doubtful any shops out there have the machine to mandrel bend their own pipe.

Mandrel bending is a smooth bend with no crimping on the inside of the bend

Mandrel bending is done with a bender that has a "slider" that goes inside the pipe as it is bent. This keeps the pipe round and not deformed at the bend.
Personally, my feeling is that unless the bend radius is fairly tight, the amount of restriction caused by the deformation caused by a standard bender isn't worth worrying about.
If you plan on making up your own system by buying a straight section and a bunch of bends, then you have to get mandrel bends so that when you go to weld up the pieces you are attaching a round piece to another round piece.

you would want mandrel bent piipng, either bends or prebent systems

wow you let someone who was high off their *** make your exhaust piping and you have no cat? im guessing no resonator either.. do you have a muffler??
I had a similar setup when i first got the car.. 2 1/4 piping with no car or resonator to a cheap *** 3A carbon fiber muffler.. sounded like ****.. so loud and raspy as hell above 1500 rpm lol.. only drove with it like that for a day and i got a cat put in with a 5zigen style muffler + silencer.. much better..

Well it was either let the fucked up guy do it or drive 4 hours home with an open header which my shop in Dallas said wasn't such a good idea. He did a good job though........
Yep no cat no resonators with a no name muffler. Its very load but sounds good because of its deep tone. Sounds better than my friends cars with just piping. saving up for the skunk2 catback but even then I will still use a straight pipe over a cat.
