the port angles are better and the combustion chamber is square rather than circle

I heard ls/vtecs have a tendency to spin bearings and not last to long unless they are built right.

I heard b16a2s are the best heads.. Or atleast they are on the gsr blocks. I wouldnt see why not on the ls blocks

yea i just want reliability with this set up. I'm prolly gonna go with a B16 head, cuz I wanna throw a itr intake on it.

reliability isn't going to lie in the head, thats going to be through upgrading the water and oil pump, using arp head studs and rod bolts. upgrading to shotpeened or forged aftermarket rods and replacing pistons with forged, vtec, or enlarging the valve reliefs on the ls pistons.

that goes for all motors... but b16's stock seem to be great and better than a gsr stock. a b16 has more airflow compared to a gsr stock. but both modified, it's a gsr/itr that wins it. i presonally prefer the b16 and that's what i went with.
my advice is work on the bottom end first then start moding the top after you get her running... it's easier take'n the valvetrain apart rather than the block. plus the block has to be reinforced.
here's a quick list of my current parts, i just completed my ls/vtec in feb and she's running strong....
1998 B18B Block (honed, hot tanked, and thoroughly inspected)
LS Crank (balanced {cam to flywheel} and micropolished)
Modified ITR Main, Rod, and Thrust Bearings
LS Rods (ARP lock bolts)
B18C5 P73 Pistons (New)
P73 Piston Rings
B16 Head reconditioned w/new valve job,etc...
ITR Oil and Water pumps (New)
ITR Crank pulley
LS Oil pan, windage tray, and pickup
Hondata Intake Manifold gasket
All brand new OEM gaskets and seals for top and bottom end
The block cleaned with a fresh hone, decked, and bored out .25 for oversized pistons.
As for the ECU, i went p28 Hondata s200.
good luck
