Default what tranny for b20 not the usual question??????

need to know of any problems with these two trannys. tranny one out of a 98 ls integra it has abs on it i will be getting everything i need for swap including, shift linkage, shift lever, axeles, half shaft, flywheel, and clutch which i probly wont use.

Tranny two: 99 ls not sure if it has abs on it yet same thing as before all parts listed above

My main worry is if the abs axeles are going to be a problem. The car they will go into will be a 97 civic and moter is a b20b4(97-US spec). The great thing is that both trannys are in the cars still and with in a 2k miles of each other(both under 65k),and they are the same price. To all who have done this swap, or a ls swap of the same years, my question is will the abs axles be a problem. PLESE HELP ME I NEED TO MAKE A DESION BY TOMAROW MORNING.

I believe you can use ABS axles in a non-abs vechile.. but you can not use a non abs axles in a abs vechile since they lack a sensor or somerthing on them...But from what I remember you can use any abs or non abs axles for your vechile..since u do not have abs

yea thats the conclusion i came too the guy at the yard is a freind and dose about 3 swaps a week he was very helpful and is going to lookout for me in the strip shop and make sure that nothing is cut or messed up. Any way i went with the 99 tranny had a better waranty 100 day vs. 60. All i need now is mounts to put it in and ill be pulling the car on the car port for the swap

ABS axles will work fine in a non-abs car. You will notice around the outer joint a gear looking thing. Its called a .... I want to say spanner but I dont think that is right. The word has slipped my mind. Anyways:

non-abs car + non-abs axles =
non-abs car + abs axles =
abs car + abs axles =
abs car + non-abs axles =

I would consider a GSR tranny for better gearing, that's the best tranny for a B20. The axels will work fine. I have a 99 B18C1 in my 92 VX and the axels were ABS and my car in non-ABS.

Yes the gsr tranny is what i want but price is a factor for me. This puts me right @ 2 grand for every thing i needed to do the swap with out the mounts i need from honda, in hind sight i should have gone b18c o well. But on another not b18 swaps go localy for 1800 so I paid 200$ for larger displasment. I do wish i had done more reserch on b20 and got the z insted of the b again hindsight. I will say i like the comfert of seeing the veical that the moter came out of and what happen to it, and now i am getting tranny out of a car that i get to see the car and know what happen to it also.

Any way I looked around for a gsr tranny and found a few and ether they were over priced or fairly priced and on the other side of the country. I have seen the ratio difrences for the two trannies and th ls is not that much difrent than the gsr and i like the idea of a good interstate tranny. Another thing is i want to boost the moter in some way hopefully with a vortec super charger, I think that is the one that is a turbo that is shaft driven. That should make the tranny shine.

To sum it up

Getting tranny and moter w/ lower compresion 200$ extra

Getting to see the cars they come out of and what happen to them and not to mention dealing with friends that will watch out for me priceless

not to mention i got tired of wating for a gsr tranny and the moter has ben sitting for 8 months, and taking valve cover and oil pan on and off to spray with wd40 every couple weeks is getting to be a pain in the ***. And what better way to spend the holidays than putting a b moter on your civic.
