Default what are some of the faster h22 hybrids doing in the 1/4?

a friend of mine wants to swap in an h22 but he's concerned that it wont be fast enough all motor. what do you think an ek coupe with an h22 swap is capable of doing all motor? with no nos/turbo/supercharger?

There's a local ATL guy with a really awesome running (the best numbers I've seen from i/h/e tuned H22A)186whp 160ft-lbs. torque to the wheels Hondata-tuned H22A that runs 14.5 on street tires in his 1998 Civic EX Coupe.

Your pal's problem won't be the engine swap if he gets it running right, but more his choice of chassis.

How "quick" is quick to your buddy?

Oh boy....now you're going to start the h22 vs c5 war and about how much faster the c5 was than an h22 in equally stripped cars, great drivers, same track, both on slicks, same day etc

All that and he's only running 14.5?? Is that with shitty street tires....I'd be dissapointed w/that time

195-55-15 street tires.

Car has A/C, cruise, power steering, and it again, is an EX model on 15'' 01-03 Ex steelies.

Our strips here in GA are notoriuosly slow.

His runs were also at 800ft. above sea level.

I'm not making excuses for him, but just stating things I think you guys aren't thinking of when you blurt **** out like "shitty driver."

I'd like to see what you drag masters would do behind the wheel of his car.

186 WHP with 160 ft-lbs of torque is pretty damn impressive, but 14.5 with that whp is definitley not good.

That should be low low 13's if not high 12's in a Civic, but mainly depends on what Civic it is.

In my coupe, I ran 14.4 at 4600 elavation feet in my EX coupe on 185/60R14 tires spinning thru 3rd gear and launching at 2500 RPM's -- untuned!

I just think he should get some skills at driving and learning how to get to drive his car.

Well then u should of stated this in the beginning, instead of just listing how much whp/tq it had and the shitty time he pulled.

BTW what do actual stock and littly moded preludes run down there?

14.5... that sucks! no offense or nothing,..but a eg with a b16 could do that.
i hit 13.9 in a 94 ex (full interior, ac, power steering) on street tires. only mods were jdm h22, aem cai and rsr exhaust, using stock header and cat.

I could have sworn that I typed in 1998 Ex in my first reply, but I guess I didn't.

I'll go back and edit it now.

You have to figure that the car weighs at least 2600lbs.

I guess the H22A hatch guys all suck at driving here too since they have been running 14.0 and 13.7 on 20'' slicks in gutted CX and DX hatches.

I *heard* we got one that busted off a 13.2 a weekened or two ago, so I'd like to know who it was and talk to him to see what he did differently in either his driving, slick chopice, or set-up, or any combination of these things.

CRD, JJ Weeks pulled the 13.2 in a DX HB untuned, pretty built H22A though, I actually think this is a really good time considering the engine is completely untuned, tuned it should run 12s consistently, IMO.
