What I need to do a rear disc conversion on my EG.
 

I have the whole suspension and brake assembly. My question is, do I need the integra proportioning valve and the master cylinder as well.??? Any ideas would help, thanks.

Blue-Civic-Hybrid: If you will, would you please let me know exactly what is needed to convert my stock rear '92 VX drum brake kit to a rear GSR brake kit?

Also, if the GSR front brakes are bigger than the front brakes on my '92 VX, how would I go about doing this conversion as well?

When I do this, should I invest in a Type R MC/Booster or is my stock unit sufficient?

GSR / ITR master cylinder/brake booster are the same.
Installing that (with stock calipers) will make a big difference. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

the stuff needed for the rear disc swap are the trailing arms with the hub/rotor/caliper/parking brake cable's included.

the lower control arm (and upper arm) that is on the car will work with the new stuff.

the valve is not required... but if it is installed (won't mount correctly on a Civic) the rear discs will do more work. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif which is a good thing

It's a 92 CX, doing a gsr rear disk swap. I have everything except the master and the prop valve... What do you think...

Prop valve is not that big of a deal... but the master/booster is. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emexclaim.gif

think about it this way... if you have installed a GSR brake set-up...you have doubled the caliper piston size... with the same master cylinder (pushing fluid) you will have to push more to get the same stoping power... granted the larger pads will help some... but it will not "feel" good until you get the lager master cylinder. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

I have a '92 VX. Will it be wise to upgrade to GSR brakes in the front too? If so, what is needed?

Will my ITR rear Lower control arms work with the rear GSR stuff?

Will the GSR brake setup fit under my stock VX wheels? (13x5)

ITR rear traling arms do NOT bolt up to GS-R struts. The ITR uses LCAs with holes in them for which the ITR struts sit within them. GS-R uses struts that have a "fork" on the end that slips over the LCAs - just like our Civics.

Okay, for 1992-1995 Civics let me say this:
1992-1993 Civics ALL have smaller rotors thatn the Integra - even the Si hatch and EX coupes in 1993.

1994-1995 EX and Si have same size rotors, but like DragII said the calipers eem to be smaller on the Civics.

With that said, here is what MOST people do to upgrade their brakes to Integra specs - all of the following are not ABSOLUTES, but they make it much easier:

Get the entire front spindles from any 1994-2001 Integra. This should include the spindles, calipers, hangers, rotors, lines, and dust shields.

Simply unbolt the upper and lower balljoints, and the ball joint that connects to the outer tie rod ends, disconnect the lines and swap the spindles. Would be a good idea to have badly rusted rotors turned or replaced, and throw in new brake pads too if possible.

For the rears, try to get the entire rear trailing arms assemblies with the parking brake cables too. Then just swap the entire traling arms and you're pretty much done.

Now, for the optional shit that WILL make a difference in braking and mostly pedal feel:

1994-2001 GS-R, LS, RS, any Integra brake booster. This bolts into any 1992-1995 with ease. BOLTS right in.

Integra RS master cylinder. The base model RS Integra had NO ABS so the lines match up PERFECT with any non-abs Civic - which most of you have. I have done this in my own car and it truly bolts in.

The Integra master cylinder is a 15/16th whgile the Civic non-abs uses a smaller 13/16th master cylinder.

Finally, add the GS-R, LS, RS, etc. proportion valve and you will have completed the package. 1992-1993 Civics will require you to change JUST the bracket over - use the Teg prop valve with the Civic bracket. 1994-1995 Civics can use the Integra bracket.

Thanks again everyone but does anyone know whether or not the ITR f/r LCA installed on my car will bolt up to the GSR trailing arms/hubs/spindles?

If I can't use my f/r ITR shock, spring, and LCA set-up, I believe I might have to pass up this mod and invest in a whole new system.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Oh shit, okay. You're staying 4-lug, but want to run the ITR LCAs, swaybars, and struts?

Your ITR suspension arms will bolt up to the GSR (or any other Civic/Integra) trailing arms and hubs.

HX wheels are 14'', so they will clear GS-R brakes. VX wheels are 13'', so they will not.
