the gsr is a far superior to the b16/type r head.the combustion chambers on the gsr head is much nicer. builds more comprssion!! use the gsr head, get the combustion chambers deshrouded and and the dowel holes drilled and you will be set.

Re: WHAT HEAD IS BETTER FOR LS/VTEC (vtecdoc)
Changing compression is easy with the B series- you can go from 9-12+ using stock Honda pistons from various engines. The "C1" head is a problem- you have to pay $250 immediately for an intake unless you want to pay $250 for a GSR ECU to control the IAB. And then the (mild) GSR cams are made to work with the IABs, so you are stuck getting new cams if you want to use something other than the stock ECU.
Combustion chambers are "nicer"?
My vote is a "C5" head if you can find one at a decent price- you won't have to upgrade cams, valve springs, retainers, and you can put off P & P for a while.
Otherwise a B16 head w/upgraded cams is the ticket.

I'm going to have to say b16. Ya sure a b18c flows just a little bit more, but your going to pay more for a b18c and like someone said it is like a mini b18c5 with just a little less flow.
