what DOHC engine fits in an 89 accord?
i just got me an 89 accord lx-i for $200 and was just wondering what dohc engines are a direct drop into the car? aside from the engine being a straight drop, will there have to be any extra work done (i.e. - custom axles, wire harness rewiring, etc.), or will the new engines just drop in and i can use all the parts that were once on the old a20a motor? thanx

none.
the closest will be a JDM b20a out of a 3rd gen accord its a dohc non vtec 160 hp engine.
that will require mounts and some other work.
with a moiunt kit or custom made mounts youc an do the b16/18/20 engines as well if you want but those are more work.

There was a B20A in the JDM 86-87 Prelude Si that will fit. You'll need the transmission and ECU too.

that b20a is the same one as the the 86-89 accords as well, if you go with the prelude one make SURE it is the 86-87 one though as the ones from 88-91 will lean the wrong way.

The 88-89 Accord engine has different electronics and is a harder swap. Both the 86-87 and 88-89 Accord engines are extremely difficult to find in a 5 speed manual version. The Prelude engine is a little easier to find as a manual.

good point about the 5 spd part, then again i cant find either unless i go and dela with someone that watns payment and full and wont deliver for 8-12 weeks, and i already got screwed that way anyway. its hard to find a reliable trustworthy importer when it comes to older engines like that. i hadnt been aware of the diff electronics either, but then again i havent found a swap that i had a hard time with the electronics.
