What do you think about this swap quote I got?
I've been doing some research in my area for a reputable shop to perform a swap into my 99 CX. I'm going to be in the market for a B18C5 swap in the next few months. I have narrowed my search to 3 shops and one of them in particular is looking like the one. The price I was quoted was $5500 for a turn key complete car. It's an out the door price and here's what I'll be getting....give or take a few minor parts.
- JDM B18C5...98-01
- LSD Transmission
- Axles
- Reprogrammed P28 ECU with Skunk2 Jumper
- Wiring Harness
- Shift Linkage
- New belts
- Lifetime warranty on labor
Is that a reasonable price to pay for that swap, considering this is a clean professional shop, and not some weak back alley, "your buddies garage" type of shop?

$5,500 to me sounds like a good deal if they do good work. try and see if you can look at some of their work they have done and find out if you like it or not. the motor itself is around $5,000 shipped and $500 for a professional install sounds to me like an awesome deal! Around here the cheapest i could find was $700.
even though i would rather do my own swap i think that is a fair price.

yeah thats a good deal, i would jump on that quick.. because your getting a jumper harness, and p28 for 5500 installed.. most places want 4500-5000 for those swaps complete without the jumper harness/chipped p28. i paid 5000 shipped for a 01 itr swap with 10k miles on it.. so of course its a good deal...

yes that is your opinion, but he may not have an area where he can do it....
plus if that lifetime warranty is valid, then thats a pretty damn good deal

defently if you have the space do it yourself.
there is NOTHING complicated about this swap, mechanicly.
only thing you would have to do is run a couple of wire for VTEC

The shop is called Honda Scene in Asuza. I called the guys at Pitcrew and they referred me to Honda Scene. I guess Pitcrew is out of the swap business.

Actually they don't have any mechanics on site any more. So no more installs or swaps, they're getting by just on sales.
Try:
http://www.racelinedevlopment.com
ask for Elton.
