Default What do i need to have a low 14 sec daily driven jdm b16a crx ?

I am wondering what mods this will take ? I'm a fairly good driver when it comes down to shifting and launching. So taking in account i can drive and the motor runs good..what would i except to buy to run this ?

there is many ways to achive it depends on the current conditon of the setup....
but
good cams toda/jun/skunk2/ctr/01 ITRs, at least intake side
cam gears to gain few hps
good header (4-1 JDM or DC 4-1)
exhaust (too many good ones)
chipped ecu wouldn't usually hurt (mugen or few other proggies)
lightweight
slicks.....

what's that drag gen 2 kit in your sig if you have that aren't you a low 14 second car already on street tires but here you go for all motor
type r cams
cam gears
vafc
tuning
itr manifold
itr throttle body or better
header

that should do it on street tires

Here is a formula for calculating your ET. Based on the given...
1HP = 550 Pound-Feet/sec
What you need to know is:
1) How much does your car weigh (estimate that's why it's not exact unless you know someone with a large scale this weight is to include the driver too. A civic with a 250lb dirver is 100 pounds heavier than the same car with a 150 pound dirver.)

Use 550 p-f= 1HP so 138 hp can be converted to the p-f/s notation by multiplying 550*138 this will give you 75900pf/s
1 s

(550pf/s)/ 1hp = (X pf/s)/138hp solve for X
Okay now that you have converted HP to pf/s notation all you need to do is plug in givens and cancel out some of the values until only time is left.
(75900 pf/s)/(weight of car:i'll estimate 2k pounds) = 37.95 ft/s Okay this means with the weight and HP this car is capable of moving 37.95 feet per second. Now all you have to do is find out how many feet are in a 1/4 mile. Convert 1/4 mile to feet and then you have (37.95 ft/s)/(amt of feet in 1/4 mile)= X sec.
Where you error is: You are assuming that that is pound. It is not pound...it is pound.force. It is not pound.mass. 2 different things.
1lb.force = 32.174lb.mass x ft/s^2

So... 1hp = 550 lb.force x ft/s

That is the correct formula that you need to substitute in. You are using the mass in lbs. But you need to convert the mass in force to the mass in lbs.

Oh and about this thread....sorry....I ran with my 90 si EF...B16a, DC headers, cheapo intake, cheapo exhaust.....consistent 14.5's, with a few 14.4's here and there. If you put some ITR cams, chipped ECU, convert to OBD1, good exhaust, intake, and headers, and shave some weight...easy low 14's on street tires.

B16a
I/H/E
Hi-Flow cat
VAFC

Easy mid-low 14s...

Intake manifold and throttle body

LOW 15s

Hell with cams, cam gears, and a decent driver, I wouldnt be surprised to see some high 13s..... oh wait, I HAVE seen it. And thats all it took..... on street tires

also with calculations, you're calculating, by far best case scenario, perfect launch, shift, good grip, all other variables, such as heavy *** 19"" bling bling rims are not accounted...

simply it would be best if he went to run currently on a dyno, and weight his setup or run i 1/4mile

B16 in a CRX? Keep everything stock and you can prolly still be in the 14s. Heck, why don't you throw your little nephew in the passenger seat while your at it?

O my bad, you said low 14s. Throw in a cheap intake and some headers and u should be at least below a 14.5, minus the little nephew.
