Default What to do? Exhuast Setup for Fitment

Setup:
92 Civic hatch DX with Stock Exhuast
97 GSr motor with Oem Header

Dilemma:
There is about 22 inch gap between header collector and inlet to b-pipe of the exhuast. I a complete bolt on catalytic converter and straight pipe, so i can switch between when needed(ie. track/daily use).

At this point i have to buy a new CAT, mines falling apart inside(rattle noises, etc.)

So my question is: What should i do to get the results i want?

The gap is so big due to the short collector design that was used for the GSR motor compared to Type-R,etc. My understanding is OEM gsr/T-R CATs are about 17.5 inches in length.

Things i have in mind that are solutions:
-Buy ITR header, which lessens the gap significantly and buy the appropriate test pipe and CAT.
-Use the GSR header, go to muffler shop and get a 22 inch!! test pipe, and than buy the appropriate MagnaFlow CAT(Universal) and have IT extended.
-Use GSR header, by the appropriate fitted test pipe(ie Skunk2,etc), and Buy the appropriate CAT, and have the B pipe on the exhuast pipe extended(the pipe after the CAT).

What would u guys do?? All positive input appreciated. What are other GSR hatch owners doing?

goto VRS exhaust, pick out a tubing kit

Find a cat (if needed)
use a good resonator (magnaflow 18" or 20" is my choice)
Find a good muffler (i use Vibrant)

Take it to your favorite local muffler shop, they should have a 2.5" flange and have them weld it up..

If your handy with a welder, u can do it yourself for even more profit

for my hatch(92 with a gsr swap as well), i had to have a shop custom make a exhaust to fit. they used 2.25 piping, to a magnaflow resonator, then to my muffler.
