When im going to sell my motor, I have papers. and its just the papers showing it cleared customs from japan. If a motor is stolen, customs will know, and it won't be cleared. And since sept.11, customs look things over very good.

does the motor block have a VIN too? i always thought all cops checked for was the motor number. the one under [ie. B18C1] if so, where is the VIN on the block located? how else can u make sure ur buying a legit motor? what if ur buying the motor off a private owner?

do a lemon check on the car. But the vin on the motor is only good if you know the vin number of the car too. you can link the car to the motor my the motor vin number, but you can't link a motor to a car using the motor vin number. The best bet is that you should know the vin #of the car the motor came out of. but other wise it could be stolen, no way you would know, and no way anyone could tell. thats y everyone steels integras and sells the motors 4 a lot. but if your motor is stollen, you report that, and then teh car vin # links to the motor, so customs knows a stollen motor vin #, and some shops stay posted.

don't be fooled. jdm motors are all jdm motors. no real paperwork.

however, all usdm motors from a salvage yard will have documentation. a company/salvage seal and an actual document. looks very official. will have all vin information and mileage and when purchased.
