What ac bracket to use for a jdm b16 swap and a 99 ex d16 ac compressor......HELP
Ok I have a 99 civic ex. The ps pump and ac compressor from my d16y8 is still hooked up to the lines in the engine bay.
I have a jdm b16a obd1 longblock. This block came with the ac comp. and ps pump attached with the lines cut.
From looking and comparing the ps from my motor will bolt to the b16, the pullies are even the same diameter.
I would love to use my d16 ac compressor because I know it works and I haven't cracked the lines open yet. I know a simple solution is to get rid of ac altogether but I gotta keep the ac for personal preference.
From looking at the compressors, the jdm compress bracket is more of a squared shape with the mounting holes. THe d16 comp. holes has a slight different shape at the top mounts, not as sqaure and the jdm b16. I know I could bolt up three bolts with the jdm bracket on the d16 comp. but I would like to have the right bracket so all four bolts line up. What bracket do I need to keep the d16 comp.? Thanks

Contact Hasport and see if their EFAC bracket (kit) will work for you.
If not, then use the compressor that came with the engine and have custom hose lines built by a qualified AC installation shop (not that hard if you know what parts are out there).
Various "adapter" blocks for the AC lines are available from a company called Doc'sBlocks!! Ya, the name is off the wall, but they have a lot of custom AC stuff.

If you go with the compressor that was on the engine, you may want to make sure that a replacement is available. In other words, I wouldn't assume that a JDM compressor has the same mounting as a USDM one. Just something to think about.

I think I found out what will work. I can keep the d16 ac comp and use a del sol b16 bracket or a crv b20 bracket and my compressor will bolt to the bracket and block.

I used the P7J bracket from the CRV. It's much cheaper & more abundant than the Del Sol VTEC bracket. I paid $70 shipped for mine with the belt tensioner & pulley from another H-T memeber...
If your A/C works, then definently don't swap out the compressor. You don't want to crack open the system if you don't have to...
