Water Temp sensor necessary on GSR?
I'm running a p72 ecu (unchipped) and a field's controller to control the vtec engagement.
is it necessary to have the water temp sensor installed for the engine to run properly or is it only for the gauge and vtec engagement?

i have an autometer water temp gauge and it uses it's own sender.
and i have it installed in the location of the factory sender.

Re: Water Temp sensor necessary on GSR? (Driven)
nevermind, wrong sensor term.
Was indicating item #11. But, that's just the fan switch. That is not plugged in and doesn't seem to affect anything.
Item 10 is plugged in and functioning properly.
Edit: i ended up searching, which helped.

Re: Water Temp sensor necessary on GSR? (gsrman99)
to explain that better
if the ECU dosent know your cars engine temprature you will run in constant open loop. it will hurt performance and gas mileage drastically.
without a fan switch your fans wont turn on, car will overheat at idle.
just run all the sensors that are on the car, tap into your upper radiator hose to run your sender for the Autometer gauge.
