Wanna Run high 13's N/A.... help.
Hey all.
My current setup is a 92 Honda Civic CX hatchback.
B18C1 GSR engine - no header - Apexi WS exhuast - no cat.
After installing the engine and taking it to the track (untuned besides spark plugs, oil change and APEXi exhuast with 15.5lb 16" wheels)
I was only able to run at best a 15.12 with 2.3 60ft times .
The day after running my clutch burnt and was shot, couldn't shift into gear anymore.
Well I am rebuilding the engine (oil loss somewhere) and it will take me about a month to finish the project.
I have ordered A14-HDSS ACT clutch and changing all the gaskets, timing belts, the whole nine yards.
People with similar setups have been able to run mid 14s. Maybe Im just a BAD driver because Im a novice at draggin?? not sure.
I know my performance mods include a header (of course, I want to keep it N/A) and I was thinking of getting some JDM ITR pistons to raise compression since I have to change my piston rings out anyway.
I've been told that this setup may get my into the high 13's with just the pistons. Any comments or opinions.......
I would like to hit high 13's totally N/A. Was it because of an untuned engine or a bad driver -- I don't know hopefully after this engine is built and broken in I will hit my time??
HELP and comments appreciated

you should be able to hit 14's with the set up you have now.
just practice some more at the track and with a few other mods, you'll be hitting low 14's easily.
good luck

maybe it was because of your clutch?
it takes practice to get good at drag racing. its not just hitting the gas
you have to feel the car, learn its quirks, know its strong/weak points. i didnt take mine to the track for almost a month after my swap.

Do what I did... 162 WHP will get you to 13's... in an EG
14.9 w/2.31 in a del sol
Skunk 2 intake
VAFC or Hondata
ITR or Skunk2 or Endyne or... Springs to rev to 9K
MILD porting or gasketmatching
Lightened flywheel
$125 for dyno time

Im gonna blame this one on clutch and BAD DRIVER.
Been to the track 3 times so far and probably had about 20 runs. Need some more practice fo sure.
Hopefully I can post more impressive runs after I break this cluch and rebuid in.

Re: Wanna Run high 13's N/A.... help. (All Motor EG)
I've always considered an open header but as stuipid as it sounds..... the track is 50 miles away and by the time I get there opening up my header from the bottom is not going to be fun...

Dyno your car.
Tune your motor.
That setup is a high 13s easily.
I have several friends that kick my *** at the track with the exact same setup.
Keep trying, you'll get there.

you should be able to hit 13's.. we did it with just intake, straight header, fields, clutch flywheel.. 13.9@99mph... with shitty 2.2 60's....... it should be pulling mid to low 13s now..

When I bought it they told me it had the usual 30 k to 40k you know, the shops they always give you that figure regardless. The block looks like its stamped 93 so Im guessing it came off a 94 or 95 GSR.
