Default USDM ITR Tranny W/ JDM FD Kit

I had this transmission in my previous USDM original ITR. I have since sold the car and bought an EG hatch to which I swapped in a 98+ spec JDM ITR engine/tranny combo from http://www.hmotorsonline.com

My question is this: is the gearing on my old Type R the EXACT same as the USDM ITR transmission with the JDM FD kit? I thought I remember reading where the 1-3 gears were the same and that 4th and 5th fell off on my current setup compared to what I used to have in my ITR.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I am in the process of building up the transmission for HPDE days and it feels as though the 4th gear really is tall on the straightaways.

Thanks

Umm, 98+ JDM ITR tranny has a different 4th and 5th. It is 1.034 VS 1.107 for 4th and 0.787 VS 0.848 for 5th. Does that answer your ?

That makes absolutely perfect sense. I would like to change the 4th and 5th gear on my JDM ITR transmission to the USDM version. Do I just need to buy the gears themselves from Acura or do I need other parts?

Yep. Is the car falling on its face when you shift up to 4th? Also, the higher 5th will make DD a >4000rpm adventure!

yes it does. it takes literally forever to get through 4th it seems like. the car is a full HPDE car. doesn't see street whatsoever. i don't care about highway RPMS because it's never on the highway

I am going to be putting the ATS 4.92 FD in soon so I wanted to make sure I had the correct 4th and 5th gears. I am assuming I can just call up Acura and get these gears (USDM version of course) and switch them along with the FD all at the same time.

ALright chief, here is the online store where I buy from: http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp

You'll need the 4th and 5th gear from the USDM type-r for the mainshaft and countershaft!

Good luck!
