Re: Turbo J32A2 S2000 Build Thread
Thanks for all the info. I am not really a honda guy (just yet).I do drive an Odyssey though and thats where i got the idea from. I would like to say that this seems like a pretty good community you guys got here at honda-tech. I am going to go and learn every thing i can on th J series engine so that i get the right one from the salvage yard.
That brings me to just one more question and ill stop hijacking your thread here. - Do you have any advice on witch J motor lends it self best to the RWD application. you used the j32 but what about others. Can you rotate the intake on any of them? are the water passages all alike. are all the block castings the same... that kind of stuff. As far as power and cams and internals, I will do all that research.

No. The flywheel WILL NOT bolt directly to the crank. The j-series crank is not flat like the s2000. It has a raised center that the j32 flywheel uses as a dowel. It would only take a small spacer to clear this or you could machine the end of the crank. The raised part on the crank is about .200" tall.
Andy, love the build (I sent you a message on J32a.com). I am sure you have noticed that its nearly impossible to source M12x1.25 flange head bolts in class 10.9 (grade 8ish) or higher...If you havent found some already (obviously cant tell in pics lol), I have the honda part numbers for the bolts that will work just message me if youd like to see them. The prices are actually really cheap. Not really a big deal if you use the low grade stuff but the high grade stuff does exist (from Honda) fwiw.

Adding to this, by spacing the flywheel up he is also able to mimic the oem f20 flywheel/clutch/throwout relationship. This is why he can use the off the shelf f20 parts Which saves ALOT of money!

You are right about the benefits of the flywheel spacer. I made the spacer to position the clutch assembly in the oem f20c spot. This allows for standard s2000 parts to be uses and save money.
