Trying to bypass the imobilizer in a K20 to 98 civic coupe swap
How can I bypass the imobilizer in the K20 type s ecu? I know KPRO will work but im trying to find a cheaper alternative. the only two things i can think of are changing my lock cylinder to get the rsx key to work.. which is unrealistic.. or possibly taping the key to the transponder and shoving it up in the dash... but i really am not sure. someone mentioned the DC5 JDM ecu.. but i know nothing about it. can anyone help me?
the swap is a K20 into a 98 civic dx coupe.
thanks!!

jdm k20a ecu.....or...remove the immob chip in the prb(rsx) ecu( check engine light stays on)..or hard wire the immob to the ecu with the key......get the k-pro....you wont be dissapointed in the investment.......good luck

I'm using the K-Pro on my swap and it makes things so much easier. It's a golden investment, worth every penny

i cant justify spending another 1000 on kpro.. i wont be able to tune it myself anyway because i dont have the know-how. im really outraged that just to get the car to run im going to have to buy a k100 for 600 plus 100 for the install..
im spending more on swap parts than i paid for my actual swap!

not to be an ***, but how much you spent so far? the usually price i seen for k-swaps is 7-8k and i seen some people spent 10k. this is a big jump bro. dont try to make short cuts, do it good, do it once.

I have absolutely no experience with a k series swap, but I have alot of experience remote starting cars that come with k series motors. dei(makes viper clifford alarms) makes a factory antitheft bypass so that these cars can be remote started. you could easily use one of these to fool the ecu into cranking with no cel's. the part #s are 555u, or 556u (these require the key to be installed in them) or the 555i this one requires no key and is programmable to bypass the anti theft. this may be a shot in the dark but I hope it helps. oh and these pieces sell for around 25-40 $.

I only paid $2000 for the complete swap plus a complete rsx door, an a-spec wing(both for a friend), and 2 black leather front seats for myself. I found the car locally- it was wrecked and in the possession of a 50 year old truck driver. he didnt know what the stuff was worth and i capitalized on it BIG time.
even with the deal i got i still think kpro is a waste. ill prob be going with the k100.

wait so if you buy the k100, they will remove the immobilizer for no additional charge? will the check engine light be on? if $600 plus install will remove the immobolizer, i can chew on that.

if you buy the k100, you send your ecu to hondata, they install the k100, remove the immobilizer and then send it back. you then have to take it to a hondata dealer to have the car tuned but it will run like stock until it is tuned. tuning should get you between 20-30whp (according to hondata). so.. to answer your question. k100 will fix the immobilizer prob for 600 yes. a jdm ecu will cost around 350/400.. so in my opinion its better to go k100 for the potential it provides. the only difference between k100 and kpro is that kpro you tune yourself, the k100 you have to take to a hondata dealer.

wait. when i looked on hondata's website, it said that any dealer can install the k100 in about 15 minutes. they said the k100 was great because there was no down time in waiting to send the ecu and recieving it back. i'm confused.
also. do you know how much the reflash costs? the reflash will remove the immobilizer, but has no tuneability other then what they tune it too, right?
do the reflash or k100 give a check engine light?
