Default trans swap problem, pics inside

I recently did a trans swap for a friend. It was a brand new b16a2 trans from honda going onto a b18c1 in a 96ex coupe.

Everything went fine until I went to screw in the last trans bolt, circled in this pic:

The bolt goes through the rear motor mount, through the clutch housing, and threads into the block. It's about 3.5" long, and threaded half way to the top.

The problem is that, on the new SI trans, the hole that bolt goes through is threaded. On any other b-series trans I have encountered, that hole is not threaded.

So I figured ok, maybe the si trans is different than the gsr. So we ordered the right bolt from honda for the SI, and it is exactly the same as the gsr bolt.

Did Honda **** up and thread that hole on accident? Am I retarded? What should we do?

Only options I can think of are find a bolt that is the same size, but threaded all the way to the top, and thread it through the trans and into the block, or drill out the threads on the trans.

Option 2 is not really an option though. . .

Opinions?

the bolt you cirlced holds the mount to the car, you must have ordered the wrong bolt if you ordered that one.

the three bolts on the tranny side of that bracket thread into the tranny and engine. the two on the driver side thread into the tranny, and the single one on the passenger side threads into the engine block.

boosted_dc2 is correct in that the bolt you circled bolts onto the rear mount, which should have a threaded "bolt" welded to one side for the bolt to thread into.

yea, I think we ordered #32, I circled the wrong one in that picture. The problem is why does the SI trans have threads in that hole and the gsr have no threads, along with any other b-series trans I have seen?

Why not just drill out the threads so you can use a the bolt and nut?

If you're talking about the bolt #32 then it does not go through the tranny.
It goes through the rear motor mount, and threads into the block.

CivicNewbie is right, but it does not bolt into the block, but into the welded nut on the other side of the rear bracket. It is a 19mm bolt and will not fit the rest of the tranny holes, including the one that you circled. 19mm bolts are used only on the rear bracket. The hole that you circled needs a 17mm bolt. And no, they don't come threaded, you probably tried to screw in the bigger bolt and it looks like it has threads.

well it is a bolt that mounts the tranny to the block.
I thought it was one of these?

Nope, that's just the outer case which bolts to the inner case on the tranny. If its a bolt that bolts the tranny to the block, then its a 17mm. I hope your not thinking of the hole where the starter bolts to, Because that has a treaded hole for a 14mm bolt and does not go into the block.

If its #32 then it threads into a welded nut on the otherside of the bracket. If I remember correctly the only part thats threaded is the bracket.
