Default Took the H22 hatch to the track for the 1st time last night.

Well, I went to NYIRP last night for the first time last night.. The relative humidity was around 99% and the temp was in the 80's.. I have a 96 hatch with JDM H22 with no real mods (freer flowing exhaust, rusty intake filter screwed on the rubber stock pipe and skunk2 ECM chip). My best run was a 14.6 @98 ish MPH. I was running on Kumho street tires @ 25 PSI. It was a good time, I just expected better, but I know, a lot of it's driver too. My engine temp gauge said my engine temps were around 210 deg.
I was just dropping the clutch at about 3500 RPM's. I just spun.. Then I spun at the 1-2 shift too. I have LSD, BTW.
I need help with the reaction time and my 60' times. they were not great.. 2.5 ish. THe best I got was a 2.3 60' time, which was on my 14.6 run.
Any pointers for hte new guy at dragging these things?
I'm thinking CAI next for some improvement.

wassup man, those aren't bad but they can be allot better! We ran H22 civic coupe a while back and it went 13.9. This was with full interior and stock motor, AEM thats all. We didnt really get much traction either but i9 think you are launching too high. If you are running on street tires you are going to have to launch at no higer than like 2500 if you are gonna dump it. If you want to get traction the you are gonna need drag radials and traction bars, that will drop your times dramaticly.
Well good luck and hope u do better next time.

dont worry about it man... your 98MPH is more than enough to get you in the high 13 low 14 sec range its all a matter of traction. Remember your not driving a DSM anymore(AWD rocks) so launching is the key... **** even I've run 15.5@99mph so dont feel bad. Practice practice practice.

just get that launch down, you'll be fine after that. Lower your pressures, and just practice. Practice makes perfect, without it you will always be in the 14's. 98 is real great though, I ran 14.6@100 with a 2.3 '60ft in my EG, and your car is capable of a LOT more than that... on street tires. Good luck to you my friend!

Damn dude. I'm in the same boat with ya.

My best is 14.6@96 (2.3-2.4 60') on 17" yoko's (weighed 2452 w/o me in it)

But I got some goodies that should knock that way down

Get some azenis and slip the clutch at 4500 rpms. It works for me. Make use of your LSD.

I have a stock clutch too.

haha thanks guys! I tried.. It was my first time. Yeah, i run full interior as well. What should I lower the tire PSI to? I was under the impression that this will help launch, but will hurt top end.
I checked my timeslip again, and I was running 14.6@96 MPH. Not 98. Is that still sufficient? I guess I just gotta practice. What do you guys launch at?

Decent times.. Its weird because I can say that I dont have much traction problems at all when I am on the street driving hard. The car only chirps from 1 to 2 if I floor it and shift like a raped ape.. *Sigh* I hope to get a base track run soon to see what the car is really running..

Good luck. And CAI really helps..

Good job man. You're doing quite well for launching on street tires.

Ever since I raced my car, I haven't been back to the track with street tires. Get some radials or slicks.

I ran 13.6 @104 mph on 15' Si wheels with falken ziex and no lsd. Stock jdm h22a in civic hatchback, in 100 degree weather. Rev up to about 3-3.5 rpms let clutch out til you get scooting, if you peel out feather the clutch back in a little. When you hit about 3.5-4 grand smash the pedal. I ran consistent 2.1's 60 ft on street tires with no lsd. Practice!!

Wow, nice times guys. What tire PSI do you keep street tires at for best times? I'm in an EK hatch, too, which weighs more than the EG's.. How much more? I have full interior and CRX seats, but other than that, nothing major interior-wise. Any other thoughts as to how i can bring those times down? I know, nitrous would be the easiest, but as for CAI, how much better can I get with that? Etc? I know, it's the cliche' question, but I would like to be in the high 13's very soon. Thanks!!
