Timing belt problemes..

Timing belt problems..
Hey guys, I have been trying to install my timing belt on my ls/vtec for a few hours now. The problem is, when i go to turn the motor back 3 teeth, the belt jumps/ slips over the intake gear. Anyone have this problem before?
btw. my set up is b18a block/crank, b16a head, itr timing belt, gsr water pump

I use the large binder clips available at an office supply store or Walgreens to hold the belt in place so you can get the rest of it on.

im not having trouble getting the belt on. the problem is when i start turning the motor 3 teeth back to adjust the tensioner, the belt starts to turn the intake cam gear, then jumps over it.

sorry, i didnt mean back. I'm turing it counter clockwise.
I finally got it on and tight enough for it not to jump over the intake gear, but it is still pretty loose between the water pump and intake gear.

How loose? You can tighten the tenisor to take that slack away.

try putting the belt around:
1. crank gear
2. tensioner
3. water pump
4. EXHAUST CAM gear
5. then Intake cam gear...
maybe you can pull you tensioner up a little to tighten the slack...
