i don't think so... if it was loose enough to get on, then it can't be too tight... if it is, just let the slightest bit off the tensioner.
does the sound increase with car speed or engine speed.
it may be the tires, have you recently got new tires?

if it wasent making the nise before then yes its the timing belt too tight if it was there before and now it is just louder its prolly the tensioner bearing.

well, it wasn't there before, and neither was the water pump... with the engine cold it is not as loud... and the belt is looser...and then it seems to tighten up as the car runs for a little bit... the tensioner is torqued down,,, i have now idea why it gets tighter....
