Default timing belt being to tight!

can it cause the motor to make a whinning noise?

i don't think so... if it was loose enough to get on, then it can't be too tight... if it is, just let the slightest bit off the tensioner.

does the sound increase with car speed or engine speed.

it may be the tires, have you recently got new tires?

naw its not the tires but iam using a sohc alternator on it i was wondering if that was the problem.

i am thinking my timing belt maybe too tight aswell... and it is whining...

yes it can. Its the waterpump thats whining because of the tight belt

my h22 makes a whining noise and i think its from the timing belt being to tight, it gets louder with engine speed.

if it wasent making the nise before then yes its the timing belt too tight if it was there before and now it is just louder its prolly the tensioner bearing.

well, it wasn't there before, and neither was the water pump... with the engine cold it is not as loud... and the belt is looser...and then it seems to tighten up as the car runs for a little bit... the tensioner is torqued down,,, i have now idea why it gets tighter....

yest the timing belt being too tight can cause a whinning noise....just loosen the t-belt a little......
