Default Throttle cable for a B18C1 in a EK hatch?

Hi all,

I just bought a 2000 civic hatch with a 2000 GSR motor swap. However, the seller hasn't completely finished the swap, and I have to iron out the last of the few details.

One of these details is the non-working throttle cable. Currently, the cable he has on there is too short (I believe it's the stock civic one). I am sure someone here has done a swap like this and knows what kind of cable or any custom modification I may need to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

I tried the GSR (?) cable this morning, and it is WAY too long. Do I need any additional brackets, or do I have the wrong cable?

If possible, could someone post up a picture of their GSR engine bay with a closeup of the throttle body/cable?

TIA

what do you mean by too long ? the gsr cable works perfectly with the gsr throttle bracket (on the throttle body) where the civic one doesn't fit properly at all (if you tried)...if you mean the covered part of the throttle cable is sticking up then just ziptie it to something on the intake manifold, gsr i think have a bracket which that cable clips into to make it look neat your prob missing it

I just compared the two throttle cables that I have and one of them is definitely too long. The other one, however, has just a tad of extra play in it - the pedal pulls on the throttle, but not all the way up and I can feel that there is no tension in the cable by tugging on it.

Is the extra play normal, or are neither one of these cables the right ones and I should get a new one from the stealership?

ya know what my bad , I just remembered something from my car...I bought two nylon spacers and cut a slit in one side of them to slide them onto the cable...I added those to the end of the cable that attaches to the pedal otherwise it didn't fit right. Overall those spacers take away the extra 1/2 inch of play. The gsr cable is sitll required though to fit properly on the throttle itself though.

Thank you!!!

Was the spacer you used plastic or metal? Can you give me a little more detail? Great idea though, sounds like it will definitely work - let me know what you used please!

it was a nylon spacer, I don't recall what size they were I had them laying around, just measure how much play you have and run out to home depot to pick them up. It just looked like your basic washer but it's nylon and they come in different thicknesses. i had them on since october so it will definitely work long term
