thinking of relocating my powerplant.... issues
I currently have a '93 civic si (hatch) /w a b18c and a dragIII turbo kit. I was originally planning on buying a 5th gen CX (shave over 200lbs), put a h22 in there and then move my turob kit onto that car.
But now, I've got another idea: I was thinking on buying a CRX HF (~1800lbs compared to my ~2350 gutted lbs) and moving my powerplant over into that chassis. How big of an issue willl this be (I installed everything onto my current car myself, so I don't mind getting 'down and dirty'). I know I'll need a mount kit.... but will the b18c fit in there alright? How about with the turbo? No a/c or p/s, so that's not a concern. But What about hood and road clearance? What about the turbo fitting in the engine bay? Is this a feasible idea?

Re: thinking of relocating my powerplant.... issues (shairacer)
Will the turbo and manifold actually fit in there (will there be room for it bewteen the exhaust outlets and the front of the engine bay)?
Anyone have a turbo b18c crx? Pretty quick, no?

Dont go with the HF, go with an Si. The reason that the HF is only 1800+ lb is that it has smaller brakes, crapy seats, and many more parts that are either smaller or not there. So after transplanting the parts you would need you would end up weiging about the same

It will work except you will need to get a sir hood so that the hood will clear the taller engine. Luckily for you place racing just came out with a new front crossmember for the 88+ crx that moves it forward enough to fit the turbo and everything else in there without any issues. It is about 8" forward. The website is down right now but it is www.placeracing.com it is also featured in the new products section of the new import tuner magazine with the gold crx that has NSX lights on the back.
