TECHIE HELP needed: GSR Manifold on a B18A1 (LS)
I did a search and:
Your search for GSR manifold B18A1 returned no results.
Please try different search criteria or a different data set.
Ok who has done this, and what will it require to make it work on a straight up B18A1 aka 'LS' head?
I like the idea, and I think I might know something that will be cool but I wanna try it first. I have nothing to look at except the 2 B18 Heads sitting in my spare bedroom to make visual reference. Can someone post a picture of the head mating surface? I want to check the bolt pattern, and the shape of the ports.
If it looks ok, I will embark on purchasing one.
Thanks,
Scott AKA CRneXt

The bolt pattern is different and it won't line up. I have a 91 LS head and a 99 GSR manifold in my garage and I could test fit them tomorrow and maybe take a pic for reference.

Sure man, thanks!
If you can maybe take notes on what needs to be modified, or someway it 'could' work, let me know. Otherwise, I will just have to fork out $1234565467437.00 for a different head. I can't be doing that now...

Ed Zachary, my main damie!
I think I can do something to the dashpot using some stuff from a Holley Trick kit, and other things... At either rate, I just wanted to know if it would be worth the effort to try and make it fit, or if someone made one like it ready-fit?
Thanks for the help Vtec villian. I appreciate ya.

This probably won't be very beneficial to any setup that you do......but
if you want to do it...
you can have the flanges (mounting surface) cut off both, then weld the LS flange on to the gsr manifold...
this is how people used to put Type R manifolds on gsr's

That's easy.
Use a shift light or some other RPM based signal soruce, and connect it to the secondaty solenoid. When the RPM hits, and the signal is sent, the vacuum switch will allow the vacuul to open the secondaries.
How do you think we get jdm B18c motors to run with P30 ecu's?
As for the fit, it ain't gonna happen.
The coolant passages, bolt patterns, and intake ports are way off.
You're best off buying a proper manifold.

Re: TECHIE HELP needed: GSR Manifold on a B18A1 (hypa)
Alrighty then. That is exactly the type of info that I needed. the water jackets, etc not lining up was one of my main concerns. I guess it is back to the drawing board for me... Does anyone make a manifold with the secondaries like the GSR for a straight LS motor?
I got a pretty nice motor coming together here... I am going to run some 10:1s with a milling of .020 already done to my head. Three angles redone to the valves, and a mild p n' p.
I think I am going to have to take an additional .010 off the block though, to ensure trueness.
Secondly, I am having it bored .025 over, and I really wanted something like that to feed the expensive little monster with.
Next question will be about my cams... Who should I ask about that?
Thanks all for the input

I wouldn't worry about the secondaries since Honda designed them for daily commuting, and they really don't do **** for a modified motor.
I know some guys running Crower cams in their B18b motors. One guy I know is running a similar setuo to yours, and he dynos at damn near 180whp.

Although the b18a manifold is a **** poor design, mating the gsr manny is a waste of money imo. You must be really bored or really curious. But, anything is possible if you got time and money. Keep us update on the cost and prefromance

Re: TECHIE HELP needed: GSR Manifold on a B18A1 (ProJectCvic)
Thanks for the input to all. I actually thought the secondaries were worth the effort. I thought that if they would hit at about 4-4.5k and had a Vtec that hit at the same exact instant, yeah...
But anyways, enough of this dreaming...
Thanks all for the info.
