swapping d-series engine
i have an 1999 ej6 coupe running a non vtec d16y7 , basically the engine has kicked the bucket , and im not going for b-series yet , so ive seen a few d15z vtec engines from 98 civics , is it a straight swap if i get the loom and ecu , the gear box is the same i'm sure

Re: swapping d-series engine
I am actually doing pretty close to the same thing right now. i have a 1998 civic DX with the y7 and i am swapping out the head for the d16z6 with head code p08-6. For my application i needed a new ECU (chipped P28) and an obd2a to obd1 jumper adapter. I need to convert the 3 wire IACV to a 2 wire set up. From what i understand you would need a obd2b to obd1 adapter since you are a 99. I suspect that i will also need an adjustable cam gear to get the timing right. Also i am learning that the d16y7 Dizzy needs to be modified to fit the d16z6. I might just swap the internals out and put it in a z6 dizzy so it can be alittle easier. I will let you know if i run into any problems, as i am waiting for my gaskets to get here before i can do the swap. I doubt it is just plug and play, as you will need an RPM switch or a new ECU to handle the Vtec solenoid.

I cant give you any information on the tranny swap or block swap as i am sticking with the 1.6 L block that is already in the car. What exactly happened to the engine?
