Can I use...........OBDII->OBDII
Call me stupid call me dumb. But when I took out my Motor I wasnt sure if I was going to have to keep my wiring harness or not. Actually i wasnt sure if i was going to get one off of the donor car/integra. So what i did was that I kept my harness attached to my car and just disconected it from my poor little DX. Now what I am wondering is that why cant/Shouldnt I of just taken out my existing wiring harness and ask for the USDM harness that came with the B18C?? Why is it that they say that I HAVE to use my existing Harness?? Why cant i just get the one off the motor and use that one?? help please im lost there!
Oh wait I know the reason i couldnt do it with the JDM B18c because its on the other side but why not an USDM???

Get a 96-98 Ex harness. Mostly plug and play. Only have to add one wire.

OK let me read it over ...............
In other words let me put it like this basicly theres two um ...wiring harness right?? the one on the motor and the one that conects the ecu to the motor right??
Ok so if im right so far then i know i have to use the one on the motor its self but this is where my question comes in. "WHY do i have to use my exsisting harness (the one that goes from the ecu to the motor), and not just replace it with the one donor comes from?? is that clearer?? hopefully??

here we go again...
anyway, the link above to the 6th gen tech done by Trey Sullivan is in great detail. just keep reading that and you'll come to understand the wiring portion of the swap.
and good luck,

Thanks Justin and Fowler Yo.
Yes that link has good info for the 6gen swap and should help you out.
As for why you can't use the teg engine harness, it has three gray plugs at the passenger shock tower and the Civic has no plugs there, the engine harness goes through the firewall below the battery straight to the ecu. You could use your stock Civic engine harness but you have to add a few wires for the Vtec and extend a few. If you get the 96-98 EX manual engine harness, it'll have all the Vtec wires and all you'll have to add is the one wire for the IAB solenoid (secondary butterflies) and swap a couple of plugs off the teg engine harness.
Do y our homework and the swap will be a breeze. Also, don't listen to the shops in your area, most likely they don't know shiet!

Re: Can I use...........OBDII->OBDII (Trey)
and while you're here trey, how did you get the teg seats to bolt into your civic. is it possible to just swap out the rails or do you really have to take most of the seat apart?
thanks,

Re: Can I use...........OBDII->OBDII (Katman)
Yes, what Kat said for the fronts. For the rear uppers to bolt in you need to take the seat covers off the teg frames and put them on the Civic frames. The frames are identicle but the mounting tabs are different. Takes 15 mins tops.
