Default Swap Nightmare Help

I've been trying to get a Auto to Manual conversion on my 2000 HX to work and have run into nothing but problems.

I tried using a harness out of a 97 EX Auto with a OBD2a-OBD1 (from what I recall) conversion harness to use with the P30 ECU that came with it. For starters I had to wire up the fuel pump separately and had a spare plug off the EWH (Engine Wire Harness) that did not hook up. It took about 45 minutes of cranking to finally get it to start. And once turned off if not turned back on right away it would take another 45 minutes.

I thought maybe it was the harness I was using so I tried using the one off my bad motor (D16Y8, it threw a rod). That didn't want to start, not to mention I could never get spark.

Thought I'd try using a manual EWH off a 99 Si and an Si ECU by jumping the (CPS) Crank Position Sensor trick, but it does not want to work. If it isn't jumped it gets spark, if it is, it doesn't. Of course it won't start without the CPS. So I got a OBD2b-OBD1 conversion harness and tried that with my P30. And it doesn't get spark and I had to rig up the fuel pump again.

I am out of ideas at this point. Is there anything you guys could recommend?

Well unfortunately the harness is junk, we have issues in WI where sometimes a mouse will make a nest under the hood and this one wanted to chew my wires for no reason. Was nice cleaning up all his feces too.
