Default Straight up trade - B16A3 for B18C1 - good deal?

I have a '94 B16A3 with ~50k in my hatch now, and a friend off mine offered to make a straight trade with me for his '95 B18C1 w/ ~100k. Is this a good deal or should I pass it up? I really want a GSR motor, but I don't know if I should look elsewhere for one...

TIA

Unless you have money to rebuild it with new trust washers and bearings don't do it. IMHO that's what i'd do. I believe you will make the right decision acording too you.

I honestly would see if he'd just trade longblocks, keep your Y21 tranny (since its a b16a3 I'm assuming thats what you have) and spend the money for a decent little rebuild on the GSR. Thats assuming you know the Gsr is in good shape and everything. Get some new ITR pistons, rings, bearings, and hone and be good to go. Not sure if you want to spend that much but I'm sure it would be well worth it in the long run..... and while you're car is down you can pimp one of those vettes (it is your dad that has the Corvettes right )

I would keep what you have since you know it's running properly without any problems (I assume this). Save up and buy a B18C1 block later on if you want to upgrade. You could also buy an LS or CRV block and use the head from your motor in an LS or CRVTEC setup.

I will be keeping my tranny, and the B18C1 is in good shape. I know the GSR it came out of, and shortly before he pulled the motor to put in a B18C5, the B18C1 pulled the car to a 14.9 in the 1320. I guess what I'm asking is what amount would be fair for mileage compensation?

Others may not agree, but if you are planning on getting to rebuild anyways- then yes scoop that thing up.
