still this darn clutch!!!
I had a thread a while back and it's old news so noone is watching it. So here is the same problem, but narrowed down a bit. My stock h22 clutch in the accord started slipping if I let the car idle for a while. So I put an exedy 6 puck in it. It did the exact same thing. Assuming maybe the rear main seal was leaking, the slave cylinder was bad, or I err'ed during the install, I went with an ACT clutch 3 weeks later and put this one in. The seal was NOT leaking, and myself and 2 other experienced persons cleaned and degreased EVERYTHING!!! There was no oil or dirt present, and installation was meticulous, torque specs followed religiously. The ACT went for about 140 miles beautifully. We stopped for a bite to eat, and when we sat in the drive thru for about 5 minutes, the 4 day old clutch started slipping. I am hoping the dot3 brake fluid is boiling in the clutch line and pushing the new slave cyl out. So I am trying dot 5, installing a heat shield on the slave side of the exhaust header, putting header wrap on the header, and running a toggle switch to the transmission fan so it will run all the time. Any other ideas as to what this might be? I have ruled out oil on the clutch/flywheel (which is also brand new as well as t.o. bearing and pressure plate), slave cyl has been replaced, and installation or allignment is not the issue. What else would cause this? Again, it runs great until I let it idle for a few minutes. I'm so frustrated I'm ready to sell the damn thing and be rid of it!
