Steering rack from an NSX or S2K in a teg?
Would it be possible to swap a complete steering rack out of an NSX or S2K and into a teg? Reason I ask is since the NSX and S2k have Electronic Power Steering mounted directly on the rack, you could do away with the stock power steering and have the benefit of speed variable PS w/o the parasitic loss of a belt driven setup. I know there are associated electronics that would need to be swapped too, just wondering if it's possible.

I was wondering the same thing today. I think that the S2K would be more likely. Do you know how many turns it is lock to lock with the S2000?

I think s2k is the fastest honda rack at 13.8. NSX manual rack at 18.6 (they feel slow!). regular Civic PS rack 17.5, EG2 rack 16.0 (same as ITR/GSR right?), and manual racks are 19.0.
I'm emailed some places... to see if it'd be feasible to get a batch of quick ratio racks made. I think 14.0 would be a pretty quick rack. How many would spend money for a faster rack?

Here!
I would love ANYTHING faster than this POS manual rack - all I'm doing on auto-x is rowing the wheel back and forth - it WAS worth the 3-5hp and the 22lb. weight loss over P/S though... but I HATE turning it all the time.

I WANT A FASTER RACK ON MY GSR!!!!
Now that I have a sick suspension setup Im finding that the steering is the weak link. It doesnt do the suspension justice. Needs to be faster.
The S2000 is 2.4 turns lock to lock! I think thats perfect! I want it... And im willing to pay for it too but no one makes any steering rack mods! I dont even care about electronic PS that frees up HP, I just want it faster!.

Back from the dead again. Anyone tried this? Or does anyone at least know where to get an NSX or S2000 steering rack? I've looked all over but no one seems to carry them.

You guys should switch to the Quaife Quick ratio steering rack.
You can buy it here!

This product works really well.

Re: Steering rack from an NSX or S2K in a teg? (98 Spec R)
Thanks, but I'd like to retain power steering.
I'm also hoping to install a K20 engine in my DC2 eventually, and IIRC there's not enough room under the hood to keep the power steering pump mounted on the engine, so having the S2000 rack with EPS (electric power steering) would solve that problem nicely.

after reading an article about the RSR S2k they ditched there steering rack in favor of an 93 rx-7 the Electronics suxed. they said it was almost a direct bolt up, they also notched the rack to give it more steering angle for drifting.

What exactly was their complaint? For racing, any power steering system probably isn't quite ideal as most race cars seem to only use manual racks, but for a street car, it's almost a necessity (esp. if your wife/girlfriend ever drives your car).
Theoretically, an electric power steering system should be far superior to any hydraulic one, especially from a tuning standpoint. Changing the amount of steering assist would be a simple software change. Of course, the problem here is you have to have access to the software and electronics to do this, which is why I say "theoretically".
