Speedo problems (electronic/cable) with B16A into CRX Si
1. The transmission from the JDM EF9 donor has NOT got cable speedo, like the Si, but has electronic. What now? Is this normal that all the vtec trannies have electronic speedo, or did I just get the wrong one?
2. The computer is PW0, is this more complicated that the PR3 to fit? Seems to have more wires than the Si harness.
How do I get around the speedo problem?

well see here is the problem u don't got a si-R cluster these cars came with a cluster that needed such thing
I had to use the electronic speedo to make my cluster work
u will need a cable speedo no sweat
Piece of Cake if u can't find out or don't want to hassle I still got mine
Just IM me to work something out
and the PR3 and PW0 should be the same thing
had both and didn't have problems
what extra wires u mean
location if u know what clipa nd where it is so I can find out what if anything they do and if u need to install it

Re: Speedo problems (krazie1)
My Si has the cable speedo, and I want to still use it.
Are all the trannies with the VTEC engines the same , ie with electronic?
The tranny that came from the EF9 SiR is a Y1 and it has the electronic speedo.
Can I change it to suit my cable from the old tranny?
The wiring loom seems to have a few extra wires - guess there are the 4 for the vtec but then I think there are also a few for the speedo.
Is the PW0 (which I have) and PR3 the same.....as in speedo wise?

Re: Speedo problems (electronic/cable) with B16A into CRX Si (JohnCRX)
i sorta second his question did my buddies b16a into crx si, he has cable speedo, but has electronic speedo sensor, his VTEC WORKS becuase the ELECTRONIC speedo is hooked up since i spliced/repined JDM harness to run his Crx si (since we misplaced the si harness) but his dash/speedo dont work, is there any way to bypass the electronic system without throwing a code, since when we hook up the cable setup he has no vtec throws a code but the speedo works, what a trade off thanks

Re: Speedo problems (nasteboyii)
Did you get an answer to the problem with the VSS/cable???
That is what worries me...either the cable gets plugged in instead of the electronic plug, which gives speedo reading but no signal for vtec.
OR, as you say, splice in the VSS signal to get vtec working and get no speedo.
That is what I figured will happen to mine. What is the solution?

Re: Speedo problems (JohnCRX)
sorry im still stuck with that delima, let me know if anyone knows the correct answer i assume the answer is wire in the SI harness and hook up cable only, (my other buddy with his b16a swap has that setup) and it works perfect

Re: Speedo problems (nasteboyii)
Here is an answer which I believe answers my question:
1. your original cable si vss will work and act exactly the same. dont worry
2. ive used a si and 90-91 integra one before, same ****.
3. the vss turns the cable, which then the cluster pulses a signal to the ecu.
you need proper oil pressure, water temp, 30kph
