Re: SOHC VTEC in 88-91 crx?? (rainforest)
refering to the swap of the d16z6 motor into a crx... why can't we use the 92-95 si distributor??... since i've heard that the 88-91 distro doesn't fit perfectly without modification??

The 92-95 distributor won't plug into your harness and has different internals so it wont work with an 88-91 ECU. You'll have to take the 88-91 distributor and slot the openings more to make it fit the D16Z6 head.

Re: SOHC VTEC in 88-91 crx?? (Jared)
maybe this might be a dumb questions.... but could i possibly change out the harness to the 92-95 si/ex to use the appropriate distro...?
yeah it would cost me... i know that... but i am the picky type that don't want things just hanging there... (meaning the modification on the 88-91 distro)...

To absolutely make power out of this thing and do it the not so shady route...Keep the 92-95 civic distributor and the stock 92-95 civic P28 ecu...run one of my conversion harnesses that converts the (88-91) harness plugs to (92-95) ecu... This way...all you have to do is plug in my harness, run some wires and you are done.

I make them...I sell them...140 +shipping for the harness. I have the same harness in my car. This basically allows you to keep the stock harness and plug in my intermediate harness, then plug in the P28 ecu from the D16Z6. This way, also, you run the D16Z6 distributor and injectors. The car will run so much smoother...small example...90civic hb..GSR swap with the Jackson @14psi...gained 12 WHP by this conversion.

hmm.... this sounds interesting... i will get back to you when i decide on the swap....
i've ran into so many problems picking the motor... love to have the b16a... unfortunately... too much money.... zc is looking great.. but then again i want the vtec.. that's where this d16z6 idea is coming from...
will your harness work for a d16z6 mini-swap??
do you have a website i can get further information on?

I dont have a web site....I have been doing this privately for a while. How much are you getting the D16Z6 for? I get complete JDM B16A swaps with motor, tranny, ecu , axles, harness for 1100 bucks and HCP mount kit with linkage for 425. My harness will work for a mini-me swap. Here are some pics for you to ponder on.

Re: SOHC VTEC in 88-91 crx?? (Blown90hatcH)
well... for the d16z6 head... i could get it for around $250-$350... but if i do choose to go with the whole motor... my friend has about 6 or 7 of them... that he is willing to sell.. and he told me to name my price... which i'm not sure how much they go for... i figure i would want to go with the mini-me swap since is easier... and it would be cheaper... don't know...

My friend charles is running a D16 88 si motor on a 70shot...stock on street tires...14.6. But he is doing the mini-me swap and running one of my harnesses with the 70 shot.
