So I've been searching and I think Megan Racing has the Best Cheap Header to Mod for H2B/2.5 Collect
So I've been searching and I think Megan Racing has the Best Cheap Header to Mod for H2B plus do the 2.5 collector mod. Let me know. Like I said b4 RMF, SMSP, Hytech, and SSR are out of the ball park due to me trying to settle in my new apartment so please don't tell me to save up for one, right now I must get my car on the road. Just let me know if Megan is the best cheap header for now, where I can get OK power after bending it and welding the bigger collector to it, becuase I'm about to get one. Thanks

the ebay one is even cheaper and we used it on one of our H2B swaps. worked just as good as the Megan one we used... and only like 80 bucks shipped!!

Re: (skunked)
QUOTE=skunked]Megan or even the OBX will work. I made 214 corrected with my OBX on the current setup
that will be your best budget header.
[/QUOTE]
was that a modded OBX besides the bend for H2B? or was it a tru OBX all the way...& ive noticed you make 219 now with a ssr header soo you only gaind 5whp for $1200 bucks???is that correct?

Hacked the collector/flex pipe off the header and added 4' 2.25" straight pipe. I even managed to smash the header before those dyno numbers on my trailer and driveaway.
yes peak I only gained 5 or so whp but the power band was much cleaner. BTW- my header is built for a 2.5L in preperation for a bigger motor.

So what header is beefier the Megan or OBX???? That OBX seems to have decent size primaries and looks pretty beefy for a cheap header.

Re: So I've been searching and I think Megan Racing has the Best Cheap Header to Mod for H2B/2.5 Col
i have been toying with an idea like this. i want to buy a top notch header but dont have the $1200 or so to support this decision. soooo, i have been thinking to purchase one of these cheaper headers and have it professionally redone. Jeff Evans from Evans-Tuning said it would be no problem to remove 1-2 inches from the b pipe and reweld the header, he just needs the car for test fitting. if i do this i will be sure to post back.

thats what has been done on a lot of H2B cars already.. we did it on ours. used a megan or the ebay header, just cut it and rewelded. you can even have a muffler shop do it for you..

i figured it would be no problem, but i brought everything to a meineke and they said they could not do it. gotta wait until im home from school and i'll be able to visit multiple shops. i was just really excited to get my first swap running and may have skimped out on a few things.

larger "chain" muffler shops won't touch it. go to the small muffler shops. usually where they barely speak english... they'll weld anything. the larger chains and others don't want to do anything out of the ordinary. i've had them weld anything from car parts to a metal chair, to misc crap around the house thats broken.. all at a muffler shop!!
one time we took a header to mod for H2B and 2.5 collector and he charged me like 20 bucks for everything...

was gonna do that as well. have a shop i have seen that is set back from the main road. have a friend who had body work done there for 400 when other shops quoted him 950. you can't even tell there was any damage.
so OBX seems to be the "better" choice out of these cheaper headers? i purchased the ebay brand and have not had any quality issues at all. i am unable to judge performance because of how dented it is and the muffler shop use a 2inch diameter flange going from the larger than 2inch collector to the 2.5inch exhaust.
