Default So i went to get my car fixed today... 56k die i think

my vtec breaks up real bad and it doesnt run right when i hit vtec, i checked everything i could think of so i brought it to the shop and they cleaned some of the sensors and it still didnt run right so we put it on the dyno for some dataloggin and we still couldnt find the problem, it would struggle to stay in vtec and was dumping alot of fuel. Also there is a decent size dent in the oil pan from the previous owner who hit a pot hole or something. So we came to conclusion that the reason why vtec is messing up is maybe because of the oil pan and not keeping the correct oil pressure, because we couldnt fond any other reason.
i just bought this car recently by the way with the k20z1 swap in a 98 civic with kpro and it ran fine for the first two days then out of know where it started acting up with the vtec. It drives perfect until you hit vtec then starts breaking up and really struggles. So i guess it might be the oil pan but why would it act up a few days later the oil pan was dented the whole time and it ran fine before. So im gunna put a new oil pan on first, i was told i can use the 2004 accord 4 cylinder pan , it is cheaper and made of steel? (has anyone used this pan on the k20z1 motor with no problem?)
Anyways the wire harness is good , there is no check engine light etc. etc. So the mechanic said after i change the oil pan and if the vtec still acts up he said it could be the cam gear then. Anyone have any problems like this before? im ready to shoot myself and the mother ****er who sold me this car. /wrist /wrist ps. we couldnt tell the oil pressure cause i dont have a gauge hooked up.

heres some pics of the pan.. by the way what pan is that i thought the aluminum one wasnt black.

Aluminum pan isn't painted, and that's the stamped steel pan (They're all black). The aluminum pan is nicer since it acts like a brace to add rigidity to the motor at higher RPMS, plus it sits higher up closer to the oil pickup.

So it's a k20z1 swap in a 98 civic? Being a swapped motor, it could be any number of hidden problems.

I'll transfer to the hybrid forum.

what you guys think about the pan? should i just use the original aluminum or save money with the steel.. do you also think this could be causing my vtec problem with loss of oil pressure due to the way my pan looks
