SMSP, Hytech, Comptech race header fit in an ef?
I put this question in the forum because you guys are more familiar with the specific header designs from each of these companies.
I currently have a b18cR in my 91 civic with the comptech 4-2-1 and ground clearance is good with plenty of room for my front crossmember. Which of these headers would allow me the same or close to the same ground clearance?
I will also likely have clearance issues with my front crossmember. Which of these headers stays closest to the motor? On a side note, ef crossmembers must be severely notched to fit a JDM 4-1.
Thanks.

I'm working on a similar project right now. The itr motor is a tight fit in the EF, but the hytech has good clearance. I'd recommend against the comptech race - unless you fab up a custom skidplate... SMS can make you a header that literally hugs the oilpan, so that's a plus.
I haven't gotten the front cross member in yet - but I think it's gonna get replaced anyway by jimfab or maybe a custom crossmember/ traction rods/ skidplate combo..... Seriously, if you've gone this far just spend a little more $ and get a better crossmember w/ traction bars like jimfab.
jdm 4-1 is low as **** and will get smashed the **** up in no time..... same for dc jdm, mugen 4-1, spoon 4-1, etc.....

.....I wouldn't say it has the BEST ground clearance. Here's what mine looks like:

Compared to my setup,a b18cr with totem mounts. And my vibrant header(with a nice staggered design) is tore up.My car is lowered 1.5 with the kyb's set at 3.Good times....good times...

you should check out the an-r headers. they make compact ones for ef's that have super good ground clearance

MY GSR header hangs no lower than a 1/4" below the oil pan but you can't use the ITR block to tranny stiffner.

Ken...that's because you have the ITR header on the car...if you had the one that he specifically built for an ITR in the EF you would have a little more clearance...I believe that Dave's car is a good example...but haven't seen him around in forever.

Tbone,
is that a moroso oil pan? it looks as though the oil pan hangs lower than the header. am i seeing this correctly?
did you have to get an aftermarket crossmember?

Yes the moroso pan sits slightly lower. I run a z10 crossmember and I also had to slightly trim my radiator fan. I now have aslimline fan in the car so theres no clearance issues at all.

.....I would highly suggest the SMSP header/ moroso custom oilpan combo for an EF.
In my swapped EF, I'm very scared of speed bumps or dips in the road etc.....
I'm in the process of getting a custom skidplate made for the front end of the car for this specific reason. Damn, I wish there was a dry sump system that'd work with that close fitting sms header! How much ground cearance is there with the moroso custom oil pan? Is the car lowered, and by how much?
