Re: s2000 guage cluster (DsBananas94LS)
What i dont understand is that apexi and defi and im sure a bunch of other companies sell products that let you read you speed digatally??? Why is it so hard to make the s2000 cluster work. Look at the apexi rev speed meter and the defi rev speed meter. How can those tap into the vss and work but not the s2000 cluster???

Yeah i know the signals are diff. But if those other units are changing it to a digital readout, I wonder if you can get that signal to the s2000 one???

Re: s2000 guage cluster fully functional in an eg or ek? (RotiEatter)
I know there are people out there with these clusters working in K swapped cars, but is there anyone that has a Non K series swapped eg/ek/dc2 car with one that works correctly?

Re: s2000 guage cluster (AMECustom)
I will be sending redzone my rsx-s cluster, rsx-s complete interior harness, & rsx-s interior fuse box (has multiplexor built in) I will be running a jdm k20a-R.
The only thing the interior harness is needed for is the digital communication line that runs from the ECU to the multiplexor then to the cluster.
Its my understanding that Redzone might be able to get this cluster to run in non-K equipped cars - which means they convert an analog(?) voltage signal to digital or the modify the gauge to read analog/voltage signal <--- in which case they would not need the harness or the multiplexor.
Redzone is moving shop this month...so i will not be sending anything out till Dec 1st....so its going to be a while
I just can't wait to get this swap installed & up & running

Re: s2000 guage cluster (adirondackR)
well what about the s2000 cluster? If we send him the unit he just works his magic and then we repin our stock harness (gauge cluster plugs) and it will work?

Yes it is true, we will be working on adirondackR's cluster as soon as we move into the new shop....and yes it will be something that he can plug in so he will not have to re-pin anything, this is what we are shooting for....

The S2000 cluster on Ekizzles car is a plug and play type of cluster....meaning that we have both plug styles for both the stock cluster and the S2000 cluster so he can switch back and forth. so in theory you could send us your harness and we can put the necessary plugs on it for you to install it in your car with the mounting hardware, but I have not decided if I was going to go about doing this because of the amount of time it takes and the price people want to pay compared to the price I should charge for our work.

If its plug and play that means what
A. you made an adapter to plug into the stock harness (female end that plugs into the males on the car harness, with male ends on the other that go into the cluster
B. ??? not sure how else it would be plug and play.
The plugs have to be different on the s2000 so you would have to make some type of harness-reverse harness.
Ex. Putting a 2000 civic si radio into a 95 hatch...the plugs are different so you can get a harness-reverse harness and make it work.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hi Greg
Unfortunatley i don't have much knowledge of the new RSX/Civic instrumentation system as of yet, although i have been contacted by a few people who want to retro fit them. I can think of no reason at present given enough time (and the stock parts i'll need to have a look at to to get an idea of what they are doing) that it couldnt be done, but i'm extremley busy just getting the S2000 stuff thourougly tested. I do know a someone that has a spare Civic Type-R cluster, i'll ask him if he still has it although i'll need a few other bits & pieces as well.
The current board i am working on allows the only the 2000-2004 and 2004-Present style S2000 clusters to operate in the majority of honda's and i would imagine the protocol used by the RSX/Civic for the temperature gauge is different from the S2000.
I have a local guy that has an K20 engine from a Civic Type-R, gauge cluster, ecu, wiring etc sitting waiting to go into his MK2 CRX, and he's asked me to handle the electrical side of things. This will be starting more or less starting as soon as he sells his other car, but i cant be too precise about when (id be surprised if he starts before the end of the year). This would be the only realistic way of me getting a loan of the control units i need, and have a running platform on which i can test things.
Cheers,
Mark.

I will still be going with redzone AFTER THEY MOVE...this will be december...then they have to make it work & I am willing to pay for their work
so maybe feb/march/april I will have it up & running as my k20a is sitting collecting dust not in my engine bay
