Default Rubbing Alcohol Trick?

Didn't know where to post this, but it concerns engine swaps so I figure I post here . I read in the classifieds (don't remember exactally who's) that the guy used "the rubbing alcohol trick" to pass smog. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of this and could explain it to me. It would be greatly appreciated

Some people in the past have added rubbing alcohol to a tank of gas. The alcohol burns at such a high temperature that it can help clear up emmisons. There are pros and cons to it. Not something I would personally do...
