Re: REF question (95EXcivicsleeper)

I have seen many crx's pass bar with a cable tranny when there engines were b18c which has a hydro from the factory. When I bared my car they never even looked at my tranny (it does say in the engine change form from the dmv that the eng and tranny have to match).

Re: REF question (droppedcrxsi)

When I bar'd my B18C (in 89 hatchback) the referee wasn't conserned with the fact that the transmission was an LS unit.

As I understand it (and as Ryan said above), the transmission has to match the engine.

But my feeling is that if all other items are cleanly done, the referee isn't going to make a scene about it. I think the section in the "guidelines" has more to deal with using an engine that originally came with an automatic, and matching it with manual transmission. It can make a difference.

As an example, I once had a 69 Camaro with 350 engine. It originally came with an automatic transmission. In that configuration there was no air pump (from the factory). I installed a munci 4 speed and when I went to have a smog check, they asked where the air pump was. (the manual transmission cars from the factory had to have an air pump that year) I ended up having to convince them that it was originally an automatic car before they would continue with the check.
