Re: JDM vtec solenoid
Does anybody know how to wire one? I puchased a 96' JDM ITR head, and it came with the JDM vtec solenoid. On the solenoid there's no vtec pressure switch for the harness plug to connect too... Just wondering how the JDM vtec solenoid is then used or operates ?
Any help is much appreciated.

Re: JDM vtec solenoid (TurboChrgd_Civic)
With my 96 itr swap I decided to switch out the vtec solenoid for a usdm one, only costs around $75 bucks and saves you headaches and micky mouse wiring in the engine bay. Let me know if you need help finding a usdm solenoid.

Kenji was the first person I knew that figured this out. The way to use the JDM VTEC solenoid with a USDM ECU or any ECU that looks for a VTEC pressure switch is to run the wire from D6 (VTEC Pressure Switch) and tap it into A4 (VTEC Solenoid). This connects the pressure switch and VTEC solenoid together so it won't throw a CEL. I've used this on 2 different cars and it works like a charm.

Re: JDM vtec solenoid (rsbad454)
yeah, if you do a search for JDM vtec solenoid. There's a thread where someone posted a picture of one. When I bought the head it came with JDM vtec solenoid since it was a JDM ITR head. I sold it to a friend who was doing a swap, and it wasn't until then that I noticed the difference.

It's both true and false, it depends on the year of the motor. For the most part, 96+ JDM DOHC VTEC motors don't have a pressure switch in the solenoid.
