rally crx
i was wondering if im the only crazy one left on our honda tuning life who has had this idea?
i am wanting to make a rally crx. sounds simple i know but has anyone evr thought of or tried to make it an all wheel drive.
My idea is this, tak a crx shell drop a b20 v-tec in it with the all wheel drive crv tranny and transfer case. then the factory bseries front modified to sit a little higher then take and customize the crv rear end im reety sure it will need custom mouts fot the rear suspension and axle but i think with a little time and money it could happen.
What do you think , is it a good idea or bad one or just leave you asking yourself if this guys on crak. well hit me back im hoping somone likes it.

Re: (happyb16xrc)
Without a doubt it can be done if the fab work is correct. However, witl all the added weight it would have to have a power adder of some kind. And I have not seen Honds rear ends handel much power. And the short wheelbase of the car would make for some VERY twichy handeling... awd or not

pointless because the front to rear power distribution is like 90/10. It has been done, with a welded diff you can transfer more power to the rear, but now you have to worry about breaking parts because they are not made to handle much power.
There is an integra that plugs the front axle holes and uses the as only a rear wheel drive
p.s. wheres this h23 turbo hatch, findlays pretty small and from what i've seen/heard/raced i'm the only turbo'd h series in a dc/eg chassis

An AWD CRX for rally is pointless because it would get its @$$ handed to it by other cars in its new class and it probably wouldn't be much faster than an FWD CRX with some good rally prep.

I'd say scrap the crv parts all together and use the trans and rear end from an EVO..If you can pull off the awd crv crx swap the a custom clutch and bellhousing will be no problem ......Whistles and walks away.

Re: rally crx (Dmc1)
they did make a 6spd awd civic, the wago. i dont know if you can manage to swap a motor in their, that was my dream ahah but they are very hard to come buy.
and they have made an integra rwd using the b20 tranny for drift comps, but im not sure about awd.

Re: rally crx (97spooncivic)
the rwd integra (braile motorsports) i've seen use a crv dual pump rear end and absolutlly kill it with out breaking it. yes your swap can and has been done. and if you can weld then its not as expensive as you think.

Re: rally crx (rainforest)
Why go AWD?
Rally has a flourishing 2WD community going - in fact that's where a LOT of the real competition is happening.
I'm running rallycross (something of a lightweight rally) in Street Mod 2 with my 88 Hatch (sohc ZC, KYB GR2's with Ground Controls on the front, K&N intake, bigger front swaybar) and doing quite well - not sure what to do with the diff. . .either need to weld it up or get an LSD. But I did take 3rd in class at the SCCA National Challenge last year and 2nd in class in the California Rally Series points series. I'm running one more year in SM2 and will hopefully move up to Rally2 (open) next year.
If you do go AWD, you're going to be competing against the Subarus and Mitsu Evos and, sorry, you haven't got a chance. They're built with rally in mind FIRST, then made street legal. And you'll be in the upper "open" classes where they can get 400hp (know several who do) and put it to the ground.
sorry to burst your awd bubble. . .but have fun with 2wd. Look what it did for Sebastian Loeb and Peter Solberg. . .they both ran 2wd (FWD) for a long time. . .
