Default radiator ?

This happened a few hours ago...

I was at a drive-thru and I noticed white smoke coming from my passenger hood..
Pulled over and my reservoir was shaking/ spilling/ gurgling/ spitting out fluid...

I turned my car off and opened my rad cap and hot air shot out...

I waited a few minutes..started it back up and everything was fine..no leaks nowhere...but my fan only came on for a sec..

Driving back home..my temp gauge is going hot when my car goes over 3 grand.

Got home..engine bay is hot as hell..No leaks nowhere.

My setup is 95 B18B1 in a 92 DX hatch...
Im using a stock radiator (which was replaced last Dec.) and I have AC.
What do you think is the problem?

Thanks in advance..

Sounds like it could possibly be a blown head gasket. Mine did the same thing when it blew. Along with hard starts and lots of white smoke from the exhaust once it was started. Eventually when it gets really bad you will get water in the oil.

You're lucky you didn't get seriously hurt pulling the cap off like that...

Is this a car that's been running right, or is it a new build?

Was the reservoir backed up with antifreeze? I had the same problem about a two weeks ago. I would recommend you changing out the thermostat and cap and fill everything back up and bleed out the air in the system.(leave radiator cap off and start car and allow any air in system to escape) I did the following and it hasn't overheated in almost 2 weeks. Good luck.

yeah..it was kinda of stupid when i yanked that cap off..one of those reaction things..checking for bubbles..LOL..

yeah this is not a new build..the engine was bought with 85K miles two years ago..
it looks like a new buildup now..

the great muta?
good luck, maybe check water pump too. I had a similar problem, replaced thermostat, water pump, but turned out to be the radiator. I thought mine was fine since it was replaced before, but it turns out it must have been a junkyard rad. and it went to ****.
